What It is Used for
According to One Manufacturer Leaflet: For the Treatment of Mild to Moderate Mixed Anxiety-depressive States.
Other Sources (Pharmacy Listings) State Use in Psychotic Disorders, Especially Schizophrenia, With Symptoms Such as Hallucinations, Delusions, Abnormal Behavior.
Some Older Clinical Studies Have Used It in Anxiety or Anxiety + Depression.
How It Works
Nortriptyline Increases Levels of Certain Mood-related Neurotransmitters (Such as Norepinephrine, and to Some Extent Serotonin) by Blocking Their Reuptake.
Fluphenazine Blocks Dopamine (D2) Receptors and Thereby Reduces Psychotic Symptoms (Hallucinations, Delusions) and Affects Mood/behavior.
The Idea of Combining an Antidepressant and Antipsychotic May Allow Treating a Mixed Condition of Mood/anxiety + Psychotic Features.
Dosage & Administration
One Manufacturer Reference: Adults: 1 Tablet Three Times Daily. Maximum Course Limited to 3 Months; if No Response After 4 Weeks, Switch Treatment.

Important Precautions & Warnings
Because Fluphenazine (Antipsychotic) and Nortriptyline (Tricyclic Antidepressant) Both Carry Serious Potential Side-effects, Caution is Required.
